Abby Markoe

Executive Director

Abby co-founded SquashWise in 2007 and has served as full-time Executive Director since 2008. In 2018, she was awarded the Feron's Wedgwood Sportsmanship Trophy from U.S. Squash, and is a 2019 recipient of the Nancy Cushman Impact Award from Maryland Squash. She graduated from the Weinberg Fellows Program in 2010, an executive leadership program training Maryland’s nonprofit leaders. Abby served as co-captain of the George Washington University women’s squash team, where she graduated with a B.A. in History and Philosophy of Medicine (2003). She has a background in public health and received a Masters in History of Medicine from Johns Hopkins University (2011).

Matt Skarzynski

Program Director

Matt joined SquashWise in 2009 after teaching English at an Islamic boarding school in Malaysia, under a Fulbright Scholarship. He was previously an AmeriCorps Volunteer and later a full-time staff member of the Baltimore Urban Debate League. Matt has a B.A. from the University of San Diego in International Relations. As Program Director, Matt leads our dynamic and committed staff team, ensures program quality, and maintains strong partnerships with students, parents, and schools.

Zach Bradley

Squash Director

Zach joined SquashWise as an AmeriCorps volunteer in 2012 and has served as Squash Director since 2013. He is a local squash professional with extensive experience coaching youth in the area. He graduated from Gilman and has a B.A. from Tufts University, where he played varsity squash. As Squash Director, Zach plans our coaching curriculum and our tournament and match schedule. He also coaches our High Performance Team and manages our annual events - the Junior Rally and the Jack Laporte SquashWise Rally.

Alexis Bond

Middle School Academic Director

Alexis joined SquashWise in 2017 after two years as an AmeriCorps volunteer at Reading Partners. She has a B.A. from Haverford College where she played varsity lacrosse, and a M.A. in Medieval Literature from the University of York. Alexis leads our middle school academic program, planning tutoring and enrichment sessions for students, and forging strong relationships with teachers.

Joyce Kasper

High School Academic Coordinator

Joyce joined SquashWise in 2019 after more than a decade as an English Teacher and Literary Specialist in Baltimore City Public Schools. Joyce holds a Masters Degree as a Literacy Specialist from Towson University. She leads our high school academic program, providing tutoring and enrichment sessions for students and support in high school transition and adjustment. She also advises our Student Leadership Council.

Colleen Knipp

Middle School Squash Coordinator

Colleen joined the SquashWise staff in 2019 after working with students as a volunteer tutor and mentor for several years. A squash enthusiast with 15+ years of experience in the game, she earned her Level 1 Coaching Certification from U.S. Squash in Spring 2019. Colleen brings a wealth of skills and experience in youth development to SquashWise as a former homeschool educator and Speech Language Pathologist. She leads squash and fitness programming for our middle school teams. Colleen holds a B.A. and M.S. in Speech and Language Pathology from Loyola.
